The women of Alpha Gamma Delta hosted a party on April 14 to support the organization Bead for Life to raise money and awareness for impoverished Ugandan women. Bead for Life is an organization that was launched in 2004 and since then has helped thousands of Ugandan women to become self-sufficient through work experience.
The music is loud. Seventy or so college students sing raucously along to the words of Matchbox Twenty's "How Far We've Come," and the lighting pulses to the beat of the song. The atmosphere is filled with free-flowing energy and anticipation hangs in the air.
Earth Day was April 22 and Kappa Delta Sorority at High Point University did it part to be part of the celebration. Through a three day event being held in High Point's cafeteria and the planting of a tree, the Kappa Deltas worked to raise awareness about the environment while celebrating the holiday.
